Castle United 2006 Tournament.
The recreation ground was graced by two former Portsmouth and England soccer legends recently.
Len Phillips who played over 260 games for Portsmouth and was one of the famous double championship team in 1948-49 & 1949-50 and also played for England and Ray Crawford who played for Portsmouth in the mid fifities and went onto more fame with Ipswich Town and England presented the trophies at the end of Castle United's 12th annual village football tournamaent / presentation day.
Despite a largely overcast dry day a good crowd turned up to support the event which is the highlight of the Village's youth football team calender.
The theme this year was the World Cup and for the first time included the club's older boys the under 15's and 16's.
All five age groups were played in the right competitive spirit and there was plenty of good football fro the watching spectators to enjoy.
The club would like to thank St John's School for the kind loan of the barbecues, tannoy system and tables, Verrechias for their generosity in supplying the ice creams and finally a special thanks to the tournament's main sponsor of the day; Rowlands Castle Village Association and Chairman Steve Green for their support.
Regards
Stephen Crooks - Secretary Castle United Youth Football Club.
